Hello, I am Pip Carter, a writer and illustrator based in Worthing.
I first got excited about narrative as a child, making comics inspired by the Beano. More recently I have developed writing and illustrations for picture books and a middle grade novel (currently seeking publication).
I studied on the MA in Sequential Design at the University of Brighton, a multidisciplinary course focusing on narrative. My tutor, the author and illustrator Graham Rawle, taught me the design principles of storytelling. As a writer I have developed a fresh and unique voice with today’s children in mind. My lively illustrations are created using both hand drawn and digital methods, combining modern with traditional. My writing and visual wit can at times be a little dark, which gives a comical contrast to my sweet childlike drawing style.
My love of stories comes from the belief that a good book can fire the imagination and transport you anywhere.
